This is actually a problem I have as well but Ive been putting it off for about 4 years so far apart from thinking about it now and again.
I appreciate your solution as always being the way out, but I do not intend creating volumes of CDs, only a couple of data CDs here and there. I have two cd's that were created using the DirectCd wizard, and now they are unreadable, is there a restoration tool or piece of software I could use to recover these files on the CD-R.

Using the search tool, I finally found the upperfilters and the lowerfilters locations. I have the same problem. Such creations are not readable by all machines. During this scan IsoBuster picks up all the files, folders and file-system remains and puzzles them all together best as possible.
